BUS-ONLY SHOULDER LANE on I-35W south of downtown Minneapolis. Modern transit buses measure 8.5 feet (2.59 meters) across the track, and approximately 9.5 feet (2.90 meters) across the rear-view mirrors. Typical bus-only shoulder lanes are 10 feet (3.08 meters) wide, leaving small margin for driver error.
