The Thales Alenia Space plant in the eastern suburbs of Rome is home to a facility that provides a troubleshooting platform for the Galileo ground network and an assessment of the performance of the satnav constellation.

Their results will help to benchmark the effects of distorted signals and perhaps lead to improvements in GNSS signal integrity.
The next Galileo navigation satellite has touched down at Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, to begin preparations for its launch in October, reports the European Space Agency. Cocooned within a protective, air-conditioned container, the satellite left the Thales Alenia Space Italy plant in Rome on Monday evening for nearby Fiumicino Airport.
